A Russian-Norwegian meeting of coordinators and experts on cooperation in the field of environmental protection was held 21th May 2021 via online connection. The Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry SB RAS was represented by the Director, Prof. Elena Bagryanskaya and a Head of Center of Spectral Investigations Dr. Dmitriy Polovyanenko.
In her report Elena Bagryanskaya presented the competencies of the NIOC SB RAS as a research and analytical center, the leading specialists of the Institute in the field of chemical and physicochemical methods of analysis. The director's report illustrated the active participation of institute staff in the work of international and domestic working groups and expert councils.
Examples of the successful and fruitful work of the NIOC SB RAS in the field of environmental protection at the local and regional level were proved by the participation of the Institute in various projects. By request of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Novosibirsk Region the researchers of the Institute monitored air pollution in large cities, such as Novosibirsk, the 3rd city of the Russian Federation by total population of the citizens. NIOC SB RAS also played a crucial role to actualize the problem of eliminating of the accumulated damage on the technological areas of the Usoliekhimprom enterprise in the Irkutsk region.
