International conference "Management of persistent organic pollutants in Russia and abroad" 2022
The Regional Center of the Russian Federation on the Stockholm Convention on the basis of the NIOCH SB RAS organized an online international conference "Management of persistent organic pollutants in Russia and abroad", to facilitate technology transfer, in the framework of assisting developing countries to meet their obligations under the Convention.
More than 70 delegates took part in the Conference, including representatives of state authorities and supervisory authorities in the field of chemical and environmental safety (including Rosprirodnadzor, Rosselkhoznadzor), leading specialists from scientific organizations (RGMU, FEFU, NPO "Typhoon "of Roshydromet, etc.).
It is important to note that representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as representatives of international organizations: UNIDO and the International Pollutant Elimination Network (IPEN) participated in the conference and made meaningful presentations.
During the Conference, the participants discussed actual problems of implementing the provisions of the Convention, got acquainted with the best practices of countries in the Central and Eastern Europe region in the field of POPs management, developed a resolution aimed at strengthening cooperation and developing joint decisions of the countries of the region in the field of identification, reduction and elimination of chemicals classified as POPs.
